Ditty of First Desire

Ditty of First Desire
by: Federico Garcia Lorca

In the green morning
I wanted to be a heart.
A heart.
And in the ripe evening
I wanted to be a nightingale
.A nightingale.
(Soul,turn orange-colored.
Soul,turn the color of love.)
In the vivid morning
I wanted to be myself.
A heart.
And at the evening's end
I wanted to be my voice.
A nightingale.
Soul,turn orange-colored.
Soul,turn the color of love.

(spanish version unable to be found.)

I think that he was saying that he was in love,
he wants his soul to be the color of love in the moringin, and he is saying that his voive sings like the nightingale in the evening, all lovey things.

nightingales are European song birds known for their melodious nocturnal song.

So he wakes up in the moringin feeling love, and a night he sings the melodic sounds of the nightingale... i think he is in love, or just speaking of love.

i like this poem becasue it is sweet and simple to the point.
it isnt filled with a whole bunch of random confusing things,
he is just talking about happpiness and love.
i think that it is sweet.
